The Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation Project reallocates 20,600 acre feet of Chatfield’s flood control storage to water supply storage to be used by municipal and agricultural water providers to help meet the diverse needs of Colorado. The project required large infrastructure improvements and environmental mitigation that would allow raising the operating water level up to 12 feet in Chatfield State Park. Among the natural resources of concern were the endangered Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse, migratory birds, and wetlands.
