About the Series:
ACEC Colorado’s Leadership Series is an ongoing work in progress and continues to evolve as new core competencies are identified for each level of leadership in consulting engineering. Click here for more in-depth information about the Series. Click here to download a PDF about this year's faculty.
Each distinct level will experience a comprehensive track tailored to develop and enhance skills and tools needed at various stages of a leader’s career. Click here for descriptions and objectives for each module within each cohort.
The coursework will be delivered by subject matter experts via interactive sessions and real-world case studies. Each level will have a total of eight sessions, meeting once per month as outlined in the dates above.
Three Levels of Leadership Defined:
The three different cohorts are based upon experience in the consulting engineering industry.
- Emerging Leaders: At this entry-level stage, participants are introduced to the core principles of effective leadership. The program emphasizes building a strong foundation in self-awareness and interpersonal skills, essential for leading oneself and small teams. Participants will enhance their communication abilities, time management, and collaborative skills. Participants may be pre-supervisory project engineers and planners.
- Mid-level Leaders: This intermediate level is aimed at individuals who have gained initial leadership experience and are looking to refine their skills. The curriculum focuses on strategic leadership, resolving conflicts, developing their teams and honing business practice tools in finance, employment law and negotiations. Participants may be supervisors of project engineers and planners.
- Senior Leaders: At the advanced level, the program prepares participants for the highest echelons of leadership within an organization. The focus is on visionary leadership, inspiring others, and driving significant organizational change while still fostering innovation and navigating complex organizational dynamics. Participants may be supervisors of teams or departments.
NOTE: Each cohort is limited to a maximum of 24 participants (there are two Emerging Leader cohorts). Also, there may not be more than four employees from the same firm in the same cohort.
